We know — your inbox is already fighting its own battle. These are demanding times, and we're asking a lot. But this fight against an authoritarian breakthrough and for democracy is real, it's happening now, and Hawai'i Indivisibles are in the middle of it. So we made a deal with ourselves: one weekly newsletter, designed like a newspaper — separate sections for State and National News, clear headlines, and opportunities flagged as Take Action or Mark Your Calendar — covering only what truly matters. If you're also part of action groups like Flip Congress Blue or Shape Public Policy, those teams will reach out separately — that's intentional. You're in control: update your preferences anytime. We promise to earn the space. 🤙 NATIONAL NEWSEzra Levin: "We Should All Be Getting Creative Like Hawai'i Did"WIN: On Thursday's "What's the Plan" — National Indivisible's weekly meeting — Ezra Levin gave Hawai'i a shout-out heard across the country. You did this. Hawai'i Indivisibles made SB2471 (now Act 2026-11), the Sunshine Over Dark Money law, happen — and helped turn the Congressional District 1 (CD1) Primary into a clean two-person race we can win. Ezra called on every Indivisible chapter in the country to push similar transparency laws in their states. From introduction through conference committee to the Governor's signature, this is what democracy looks like when it actually works. Read the full story. There is more national coverage every week. David Sirota went deep on the Lever Time podcast with bill sponsor and endorsed CD1 candidate Senator Jarrett Keohokalole: Hawaii Is Overthrowing Citizens United. Ali Velshi also had a very informative two part explainer on MS NOW - Part 1 and Part 2. 📢 Take Action: Share this win with friends outside Hawai'i. Tell them Hawai'i Indivisibles built this law — and ask them to push their own legislators to follow our lead. 📅 Mark Your Calendar: Do you want to hear directly from the people who made it happen? Senator Keohokalole's office is hosting a virtual town hall on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10 AM. The panel features Senators Keohokalole and Rhoads alongside Tom Moore of the Center for American Progress, with a moderated Q&A to follow. Register here. Block the USPS Voter Suppression RuleHere's a new one: under a proposed rule, the Post Office would require states to share voter data so USPS [!] can decide whose mail-in ballots count. This is Trump’s latest naked attempt at voter suppression. It’s as bad as it sounds. More background here. The public comment period is open — and they're counting on our silence. We have a better idea: a resounding public response. 📢 Take Action: Email your comment (include your name and address) to PCFederalRegister@usps.gov with subject line: Ballot Mail. Deadline: July 2, 2026. Rise Up and Sing OutYou have probably seen the latest photos of the White House. It's heartbreaking to witness the destruction of the People's house, and a real metaphor for the times we live in. The grotesque outdoor stage is going up on the South Lawn so the most corrupt president in U.S. history can celebrate his 80th birthday with a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight. We're not watching that. We're building something better — community. Indivisible National, the No Kings Coalition, and the Committee for the First Amendment are asking Indivisibles to host watch parties for the Rise Up and Sing Out Concert on June 14, 2026. Invite neighbors who aren't yet part of Indivisible. Make it a party!🎶 📢 Take Action: Watch at home, or better yet, register your watch party here. STATE NEWSTalk Story with Lieutenant Governor Candidate Della Au BelattiWe invited the three main Democratic Primary candidates for Lieutenant Governor to a virtual talk story — same format as our successful CD1 series. Only Representative Della Au Belatti accepted our endorsement criteria, which include refusing dark money and Super PAC support. That tells you something. 👀 We've improved the Q&A format — live upvoting will be on. After attending live or watching the recording (available through Saturday, June 13, 2026, until 11 PM), you'll receive a survey to share your endorsement recommendation. 📢 Take Action: Register for the talk story on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6 PM to attend live or view the recording on demand. Support Senator Jarrett Keohokalole for CongressIHSN has endorsed Senator Keohokalole to replace Ed Case as our representative from Congressional District 1 (urban Honolulu). The campaign has kicked off weekly sign waving events — Fridays at 5 PM at Ala Moana Blvd & Atkinson Dr. Come wave. 👋 Here's something worth saying out loud: Hawai'i hasn't elected a Republican to statewide office in decades. The Democratic Party primary is not a warmup — it's the main event! The primary is Saturday, August 8, 2026 — and ballots arrive as early as July 21. In 2024, only 23% of registered voters returned their ballots for the primary, so our work is to engage with and motivate the other 77%. 📢 Take Action: Sign up for campaign emails at jarrettforcongress.com. (Click the "Volunteer" dropdown menu.) Hawai'i Elections Commission — New Chair VoteSince 2024, the Elections Commission has been targeted by a coordinated MAGA campaign to spread disinformation about Hawai'i elections — straight from the authoritarian playbook. The goal is simple: make voters doubt election results. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10 AM, the Commission votes on a new chair. Six of eight members must agree. One candidate is retired Federal Judge David Wiseman, a leader of Kona Indivisible and a committed voice for restoring sanity and trust in Hawai'i's elections. His letter of intent, resume, and application speak for themselves — 50 years of commitment to the rule of law, and exactly the right person for this moment. 📢 Take Action: Show up and testify on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10 AM. Details at elections.hawaii.gov. Flip Congress Blue — BlueWave PostcardingIn 2024, 700+ Hawai'i Indivisibles wrote 185,000 postcards to voters in key districts. If you love geeking out on numbers as much as we do, here's what we've accomplished since 2018. This year we want to shatter that record. 🖋️💪 We provide the cards, the addresses, and the good company. Events are happening weekly on Oʻahu, Hawai'i Island, and Kauaʻi. Find one near you on our website — the island filter makes it easy. 📢 Take Action: Sign up here, host a postcard party, or write from home. For more information, contact bluewave@indivisiblehawaii.org. HELP SHAPE IHSN 3.0This newsletter — and our newly published website — are part of our transition to IHSN 3.0. If you've watched us in the legislature, at county council and commission meetings, at rallies, or in public forums, you've seen that the Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network (IHSN) - 13 chapters across 4 islands - is now a force. And as they say: we're just getting started! Your feedback shapes what this becomes — reply to this email with suggestions. We read them all. We run entirely on volunteer energy and donated dollars. If you'd like to do more, update your preferences in the footer. If you can contribute financially, even better — there's a Donate link below. Mahalo nui loa for reading this far. 🤙 |
